With reference to the talegraphic cor-
-respondence noted in the margin, I have the honour to
inform Your Lordship that it

would be advantageous to this Government to acquire from the Military Authorities under the terms of paragraph 2 of the Lewis Memorandum (page 4) an area of about ten acres in King's Park coloured red on the enclosed plan for the purpose
of erecting Government quarters.
2.
The price to be paid is 85,302.98 an acre, which for ten acres would amount to $53,029.80, and this sun would be credited to the Military Authorities.
3.
The land in question is well out of the way of the Rifle Range, and rises in a gentle slope from Gascoigne Road. It is not used by the general public, and the only useful purpose to which it can be put is that of build- -ing dwelling houses. I put forward this proposal now in view of the preparation of the Estimates for 1920 and if on his arrival Sir Reginald Stubbs should concur in it he will no doubt ask for your approval by telegraph.
